ARK News… The uprooting of olive trees in the Kurdish city of Afrin is underway at the hands of the armed factions with little deterrence, as dozens of trees were uprooted in a village in the Shara town.
In a video sent to ARK News, a Kurdish farmer from the village of Hassan Dera, in the Shara town of the city of Afrin in Syrian Kurdistan, documents the uprooting of (24) fruitful olive trees from his land.
The village of Hasan Dera and its neighboring villages, “Midanki,” are under the control of the Sultan Murad faction.
Local sources confirmed that the armed factions are cutting and uprooting trees for the purpose of harvesting and trading in firewood, and the prices of one ton reach about 150 US dollars for olive trees and 100 dollars for forest trees, cypresses and pine trees.
