The Students and Youth of Democratic Kurdistan Union – West Delegation Meets Deputy Minister of Higher Education

ARK News.. A delegation from the Students and Youth of Democratic Kurdistan Union – West, Damascus branch, visited the office of Dr. Abdul Hamid Obeid al-Khalid, Deputy Minister of Higher Education for Student Affairs.

The delegation included Omar Saleh Omar, head of the Damascus branch, Miyada Kabar Mustafa and Muhammad Mustafa Muhammad, branch members, and Ahmad Hajjo, Head of Student Affairs at the Union Secretariat.

During the meeting, Dr. al-Khalid welcomed the delegation and praised the Union’s vital role in supporting students and defending their rights, especially amid the exceptional circumstances affecting certain areas of Syria.

Key issues discussed included: Outstanding problems at al-Furat University – Hasaka branch, and ways to protect students and ensure the continuity of education.

Conditions of students graduating from universities and institutes in the Kurdistan Region, and the need to find fair solutions safeguarding their academic and professional rights.

The importance of including the Kurdish language and literature in the programs of the College of Arts and Humanities, recognizing it as an integral part of Syria’s cultural identity.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Union delegation presented Dr. Abdul Hamid Obeid al-Khalid with a commemorative plaque in appreciation of his distinguished efforts, valuable contributions to student services, and ongoing support for educational initiatives and development in Syria.
