Damascus.. A liter of diesel reaches 25 thousand and a ton of firewood for about 6 million Syrian pounds
ARK News.. Syrian human rights sources reported that a liter of free diesel reached more than 20 thousand Syrian pounds, which made facing the cold with the arrival of winter very difficult.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that winter is coming to Syrians amid a stifling economic crisis and a significant increase in the prices of heating materials, which makes facing the severe cold a major challenge in most areas under the control of the Syrian regime.
According to the source, many families did not receive subsidized diesel, as the distribution rate did not exceed 10%, only in some areas, and the amount allocated to one family is 50 liters, which is not enough for more than a month.
The source explained that the price of free diesel has increased to range between 20-25 thousand liras per liter, which makes the cost of buying 20 liters about 500 thousand liras, which is barely enough for one week,
The source added that securing heating for two months requires more than two million Syrian liras, an amount that is not commensurate with the low-income level of most of the population.
According to the source, the price of a ton of oak and pine firewood is 5.5 million liras, lemon firewood is 4.3 million, and almond firewood is 2.7 million liras, while the cost with transportation fees reaches about 7 million liras per ton. This increase in prices has made heating almost impossible, especially in cold mountainous areas.
