Israel Releases 60 Palestinian Prisoners
ARK News.. Israeli media reported that Israel has released only 60 Hamas prisoners out of the 195 slated for release under the current agreement.
According to the Israeli news outlet Walla, the Shin Bet security agency objected to around 100 names and excluded 25 senior figures from the final list.
The report added that the final roster of Palestinian prisoners approved for release includes 195 inmates serving life sentences.
It also noted that among the 1,700 detainees from Gaza expected to be freed, none were involved in the events of October 7, 2023.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced last Thursday that Israel and Hamas had signed the first phase of his proposed peace plan.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote:
“This means that all hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw its forces to an agreed line — the first steps toward achieving a strong, lasting, and eternal peace. All parties will be treated fairly.”
