ARK News.. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that American forces targeted Iranian command centers, air defense sites, missile capabilities, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), and coastal surveillance facilities during an evening wave of strikes against Iran.
In a statement issued on Thursday, July 16, 2026, CENTCOM said the operation was carried out at 9:00 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time on July 15, 2026, and struck multiple Iranian military targets, including command centers, air defense positions, missile assets, drones, and coastal monitoring facilities.
CENTCOM said the objective of the operation was to continue degrading Iran's ability to threaten innocent mariners aboard commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
