Israel informs U.S. of decision to maintain troops in Syria and Lebanon
ARK News.. Israel has informed the U.S. Secretary of Defense of its decision to maintain its military forces in what it describes as "security zones" in Syria, Lebanon, and the Gaza Strip.
According to officials familiar with the matter, the notification was delivered through ongoing bilateral communications and consultations between the two sides. Israel reaffirmed its intention to maintain its military presence at these strategic locations, citing the need to safeguard its national security and prevent potential military threats along its northern and southern borders.
Media reports said the United States and Israel continue high-level coordination to assess their shared defense requirements and address the security and political implications of maintaining Israeli forces across multiple fronts in the Middle East.
The move comes amid escalating regional tensions, as the United States continues airstrikes and a naval blockade targeting Iranian positions and supplies, alongside ongoing exchanges of missile attacks across the Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz.
