Jad’an Ali: President Barzani Is the True Guarantor of Kurdish Rights in Syria

ARK News.. A member of the Kurdistan Region’s representation within the Kurdish National Council (KNC) in Syria affirmed that the role played by President Masoud Barzani since the outset of the Syrian crisis has been decisive in safeguarding Kurdish rights and preventing a humanitarian collapse in Syrian Kurdistan.

According to Kurdistan24, Jad’an Ali, a member of the Kurdistan Region’s KNC representation in Syria, stated:
“Our benchmark for any agreement is the extent to which it provides security and stability for our people. The people of Syrian Kurdistan have endured fear and constant threats for a long time. If this agreement leads to an end to bloodshed and removes the specter of war, then we view it as a positive step from a security and military perspective.”

He added:
“Politically, the picture has not yet fully crystallized, but the priority at this stage is the protection of civilians and ensuring that the tragedies witnessed in areas such as Afrin and Kobani are not repeated.”

Commenting on the historical role of President Masoud Barzani, Ali explained that President Barzani has spared no effort since 2011 in closely following every detail of the Syrian file.

“President Barzani has always been the umbrella bringing together Kurdish parties through the Erbil I, Erbil II, and Duhok agreements. He is the true guarantor of Kurdish rights in Syria, and his positions stem from a deep conviction in the Kurdish cause, far removed from narrow partisan interests,” Ali said.

He also pointed to the humanitarian assistance provided by the Barzani Charity Foundation to displaced persons and refugees in camps across the Kurdistan Region, as well as aid delivered inside Syrian Kurdistan, describing it as a lifeline for many families.

Ali continued:
“The entire world, including the United States and European countries, acknowledges President Barzani’s leadership role in maintaining regional balance. Without this intervention and sustained support, the situation in Aleppo, Afrin, and other Kurdish areas in Syria would have reached catastrophic levels of destruction and displacement.”

He concluded by stressing that Kurdish unity under an inclusive Kurdish national banner remains the only path to safety and stability. He also praised the efforts of the Kurdistan Region’s Presidency, represented by President Nechirvan Barzani, and the Kurdistan Regional Government, led by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, for continuing President Masoud Barzani’s approach in supporting the Kurdish cause across all international forums.
