Nechirvan Barzani: We look with sadness at the events in Sinjar and the forced displacement of our Yezidi sisters and brothers again

I congratulate the 29th anniversary of the establishment of the Lalish Cultural Center to all the members and cadres of the center and all the Yazidi sisters and brothers. We look with appreciation and gratitude to the work, struggle, and activities of the Lalish Center, which has always been, as its slogan says, a pure spring that flows into the river of Kurdish culture.

On this anniversary, we reaffirm to our Yezidi sisters and brothers that we will remain as we have always been in support of their rights and demands and we will do everything necessary in this field, and as long as a Yezidi sister or brother remains kidnapped, our efforts will continue to liberate them or reveal their fate.

We look with sadness at the events in the Sinjar region and the forced displacement of our Yazidi sisters and brothers once again. We call on the Iraqi government to make, in cooperation with the Kurdistan Regional Government, every effort to normalize the conditions of Sinjar and all the Yazidi regions and to reconstruct and restore life and services to them.

On this occasion, we also remember the former head of the Supreme Authority of the Lalish Cultural Center, the late Sheikh Shamo, who passed away some time ago, and we remember his works and services, may his memory be good and his soul happy.

Nechirvan Barzani

Kurdistan Region President
