Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that at least 12 people were killed and 309 others injured in a missile attack attributed to the Houthi group that targeted the passenger terminal at King Khalid International Airport in the capital, Riyadh, on Sunday, October 11, 2026. The attack reportedly led to a complete suspension of airport operations and the declaration of a state of maximum medical emergency at the city’s hospitals.

In an official statement posted on X, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation said the attack killed 12 people, including four Saudi citizens and residents holding American, Egyptian, Bangladeshi, Argentine, Syrian, Palestinian, and Sudanese nationalities. Another 309 people sustained injuries ranging from moderate to critical, including several Umrah pilgrims.

Turki al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Arab Coalition, described the attack as a “cowardly terrorist assault that amounts to a war crime,” pledging a “firm” response. He also confirmed that another projectile landed near King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and that a ballistic missile was intercepted in Al-Kharj Governorate.

On the international front, U.S. President Donald Trump described the attack on Riyadh airport as “unacceptable.” He said discussions with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman were expected, with a view to making a “quick” decision on whether the United States would join a military response against the Houthis in Yemen.

Meanwhile, United Nations Special Envoy Hans Grundberg stressed that the attack constituted a “dangerous escalation” threatening regional security.
