Peter Geirets, Founder of the “Kurdish House” in Belgium, Passes Away
ARK News.. Peter Geirets, founder of the Kurdish House in Belgium and a long-time friend of the Kurdish people, has passed away after a life dedicated to cultural, political, and social activism in support of Kurds in the diaspora.
Geirets established the Kurdish House in Brussels in 1996 at his own expense, providing a hub for numerous cultural, educational, and artistic activities. The center also played a key role in teaching children the Kurdish language, helping preserve their cultural identity and passing it on to future generations.
Widely known for his unwavering support for Kurdish refugees in Belgium, Geirets worked with them with sincerity and devotion, striving to help them build new lives in exile.
He was married to a Kurdish woman, Parwin Jamil Pasha, who currently manages the Kurdish House, continuing the cultural and social mission her husband began.
Geirets’ passing marks a great loss for the Kurdish community in Belgium, as he represented a bridge of friendship and cooperation between the Belgian and Kurdish peoples, and left behind a legacy of promoting Kurdish culture in Europe
