ARK News.. The UN Human Rights Committee has called on the Syrian regime to conduct immediate, comprehensive and independent investigations into all human rights violations against civilians that had committed during the ongoing armed conflict, and to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The UN Human Rights Committee said in a report to the Syrian regime that foreign armed forces and pro-regime militias are committing gross and severe human rights violations.

The committee explained that it is deeply concerned about violations such as torture, secret detention, sexual violence and enforced disappearance, including in areas under the control of the Syrian regime.

In its report, the committee specifically called on the Syrian regime to conduct immediate, comprehensive and independent investigations into all human rights violations against civilians committed during the ongoing armed conflict, to bring the perpetrators to justice, and to provide full reparation to the victims or their family members.

54 countries issued a joint statement on the interactive dialogue with the UN Commission of Inquiry on Syria, condemning the deaths, torture and ill-treatment of detainees in Assad’s prisons, and calling for a sustainable political solution in Syria in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2254.
