ARK News.. The U.S. presidential envoy for Syria and Iraq, Tom Barrack, said Washington’s policy, endorsed by President Donald Trump in 2019, recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, has not changed.

According to the Associated Press, Barrack said, "President Donald Trump set U.S. policy on the Golan Heights in 2019, and it has not changed.”

The report said Barrack’s reference to the Golan Heights was intended to illustrate that “territories taken by force remain disputed for generations.”

Barrack also stressed that agreements reached through negotiations are more durable than maps imposed by force.

In an earlier interview, Barrack said that Israel “continues to occupy the Golan Heights in violation of United Nations resolutions and the international order,” which, he noted, recognize the Golan Heights as Syrian territory.
