Iran Threatens to Target U.S. Military Bases in European Countries

Aug 24 2026

ARK News.. The Iranian Foreign Ministry warned that Tehran would target U.S. military bases located in European countries if those countries become involved in or facilitate any military aggression against the Islamic Republic.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei said in a press briefing on Monday, August 24, 2026, that Iran’s military capabilities and popular cohesion constitute a “strong shield” for the country, stressing that Tehran had succeeded in thwarting what he described as plans aimed at undermining its security and stability.

Baghaei said there was “no reason for any country to fear Iran,” provided that those countries do not allow the United States to use their territory, airspace, military bases, or facilities as launching points for attacks against Iranian territory.

He warned that countries allowing their military infrastructure to be used in attacks against Iran could themselves become targets. Baghaei specifically referred to European countries hosting U.S. military facilities and said Iran considers itself entitled to target the source or launch point of any attack against it.

The Iranian warning comes amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington and follows reports that U.S. military assets have operated from European facilities. Baghaei specifically cited reports involving U.S. refueling aircraft operating from Bulgaria, which he described as support for U.S.-Israeli military action against Iran.
