Sirwan Barzani: All Punitive Decisions and Measures Against Korek Telecom Suspended

Aug 23 2026

ARK News.. The Baghdad/Rusafa Court of Appeal issued an interim order on Sunday, August 23, 2026, suspending the implementation of all punitive decisions and measures issued against Korek Telecom by the head of the Communications and Media Commission.

According to Kurdistan24, Korek Telecom owner Sirwan Barzani welcomed the court ruling, saying: “As we have stated on previous occasions, the decisions issued against our company lacked legal grounds and fair factual justification.”

“Upholding justice and addressing this injustice, the Rusafa Court issued a binding interim order suspending those unfair measures,” Barzani added. “This decision reinforces our longstanding confidence in the integrity and impartiality of the Iraqi judiciary in protecting rights and upholding the law.”

The ruling effectively freezes all administrative measures recently imposed against the company, helping ensure the operational stability of the Korek Telecom network and the continued provision of services to millions of subscribers, while also protecting their banking and service transactions linked to their phone lines across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
