Israel and Turkey Secretly Communicating to Avoid Military Clash in Syria

Aug 23 2026

ARK News.. An Israeli military source has revealed that Israel has opened a secret communication channel with Turkey to coordinate positions and prevent a military confrontation inside Syria, following an Israeli airstrike that recently targeted a Syrian military base.

According to Israel’s Channel 2, which cited the Israeli military source on Sunday, August 23, 2026, the undeclared channel is intended to facilitate direct communication and the exchange of messages to prevent confrontation. The source stressed that Tel Aviv does not want to put Ankara in the position of an adversary.

At the same time, the source said military action would remain an option if political and diplomatic messages fail to achieve their objective.

The developments come after an Israeli strike on the Abu al-Duhour military base in Syria last Tuesday, during which Tel Aviv raised concerns over Turkey’s deployment of reinforcements, including air-defense systems, drones, and missiles, near its borders.

Ankara, for its part, denied that any Turkish military personnel or delegations were present at Abu al-Duhour during or before the strike.

Damascus has also rejected any steps aimed at establishing a permanent Turkish military presence on Syrian territory.

Israel’s public broadcaster reported that security officials had informed Washington of Turkish preparations to deploy radar and air-defense systems operated by Turkish military personnel at the airport, amid Israeli warnings that such measures could affect the regional balance of power.
