Iran Warns Gulf States: Any New U.S. Attack Will Be Met with Strikes on Regional Energy Infrastructure

Iran has warned Gulf states that any new U.S. military attack on its territory would trigger retaliatory strikes targeting critical energy infrastructure across the region, according to sources cited by Reuters. The warning comes as Tehran seeks to raise the cost of any potential military action by threatening key U.S. allies in the Middle East.

According to Reuters, the warning was delivered through a series of high-level diplomatic contacts after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened on July 28 to strike Iran's energy network and critical infrastructure.

The news agency, citing two senior Iranian officials, two Gulf sources, and a senior Middle Eastern diplomat familiar with the discussions, reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held talks with his counterparts in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar, as well as with Pakistan's army chief.

The sources said Araghchi urged Washington's Gulf allies to use their influence with President Trump to dissuade him from launching further attacks, warning that any strike against Iran would prompt Tehran to target U.S. assets and energy facilities throughout the Gulf.

Reuters reported that Araghchi delivered a consistent message during all of his discussions, saying: "We are prepared to respond, but a diplomatic solution is the best way to avoid broader and more destructive escalation across the region."

The agency added that the warning was intended for all Gulf states but was conveyed primarily through Saudi Arabia and Qatar. It also reported that Qatar, Oman, and Saudi Arabia have urged Washington to resume talks with Tehran and avoid a renewed conflict, amid Iranian warnings that another round of U.S. strikes could "turn the region into a ball of fire."
