EU: No Illegal Movement of Migrants from Ceuta to Mainland Spain

Aug 06 2026

ARK News.. The European Union has said there has been no illegal movement of migrants from the Spanish enclave of Ceuta to mainland Spain, following last week's large-scale influx across the border.

According to Reuters, an EU spokesperson told a press conference on Thursday, August 6, 2026, that no unauthorized transfers to mainland Spain had occurred among the migrants who entered Ceuta during the recent border surge.

"We understand from the Spanish authorities that, at this stage, illegal movements toward mainland Spain and the rest of Europe have been successfully prevented," the spokesperson said.

The remarks come amid heightened attention to migration flows into Ceuta, one of Spain's two autonomous enclaves in North Africa, following a significant increase in border crossings last week.
