Nechirvan Barzani Stresses Iraq Must Remain a Source of Regional Stability

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani stressed the importance of fully implementing the decision to place all weapons under state control and supporting the federal government's reform and security agenda, emphasizing that Iraq must remain a source of regional stability and should not be used as a base or staging ground to threaten neighboring countries.

In a post published on his official X account following his participation in the State Administration Coalition meeting in Baghdad, Barzani said: "I was pleased to attend the State Administration Coalition meeting in Baghdad and meet with my brothers, the leaders of the four presidencies, and the heads of the political blocs. The meeting reviewed the general situation, current challenges, and the latest regional and international developments."

Barzani said the participants reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the government's program and delivering on national priorities, particularly strengthening security and improving the quality of public services provided to citizens.

He added: "We emphasized the importance of implementing the decision to ensure that weapons remain exclusively in the hands of the state in a manner that reinforces the rule of law and preserves Iraq's security and stability. We also stressed that Iraq must continue to serve as a source of stability in the region and must not become a launchpad or arena for threats against neighboring or other countries."

Barzani concluded by reaffirming his full support for the Prime Minister and the federal government in implementing their agenda and reform efforts, calling for a spirit of shared national responsibility to safeguard Iraq's supreme national interests and advance the country's development.
