ARK News.. The Office of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced on Monday, July 13, 2026, that significant progress has been achieved in combating corruption and recovering embezzled public assets, describing the results as the outcome of close and continuous coordination between KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi.

The office released the following statement:

In light of the close, constructive, and ongoing cooperation and coordination between Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, and the relevant institutions of both the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government of Iraq, the KRG Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Interior and the institutions of the Kurdistan Region Security Council to coordinate with the relevant federal authorities in efforts to combat corruption and hold those responsible for embezzling public funds accountable.

As a result of this joint cooperation and coordination, and within the framework of the anti-corruption campaign aimed at protecting public wealth, legal measures have recently been taken against individuals involved in corruption and violations of the law. Authorities arrested suspects and seized large amounts of cash, gold, and other assets, which have been returned to the state treasury.

As the latest outcome of this cooperation, the relevant authorities in the Kurdistan Regional Government have handed over 358 kilograms of confiscated gold to Iraq's Federal Commission of Integrity.

The Kurdistan Regional Government reaffirms its commitment to continuing cooperation and coordination with the Federal Government to deter corruption, put an end to the waste of public funds, and strengthen integrity and the rule of law.
