Nawwaf Salam: Restricting Weapons to the State in Lebanon Is Not Meant to Please Israel
ARK News.. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawwaf Salam affirmed that the effort to place all weapons under the authority of the Lebanese state is not intended to satisfy Israel, stressing that he is only asking Hezbollah to fulfill its commitments.
Speaking to the media, Salam said that restricting the possession of weapons to the state is an independent Lebanese matter that has already been agreed upon domestically.
"I am asking Hezbollah for nothing more than to honor its commitments," he stated.
Salam added that Lebanon chose to engage in negotiations in Washington because it represented the least costly path for the country.
He further emphasized that Lebanon would not accept the continued presence of "five points or even two points" under Israeli control, while also calling for the release of detainees.
