ARK News.. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has reported that nearly 200,000 people have been displaced from Sweida province since July 12 and confirmed that it has provided extensive assistance to those affected.

According to UNICEF, 192,000 people have fled Suwayda amid ongoing security tensions, despite a decline in violence following the ceasefire announced on July 19. Intermittent clashes continue in several areas, alongside movement restrictions and checkpoints that hinder the delivery of humanitarian aid.

The organization stressed that displaced families are in urgent need of food, healthcare, water, shelter, and psychosocial support, with growing risks to children in overcrowded shelters.

UNICEF noted that on July 31, it participated in the first high-level field mission to Suwayda, led by the acting UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator. The mission covered the cities of Sweida, Shahba, and Salkhad, aiming to assess needs and deliver assistance.

In recent weeks, the organization, working with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and other partners, has distributed more than 65,000 bottles of drinking water and delivered 3,272 cubic meters of water by tanker trucks to provide safe water for about 30,000 people in Daraa and Suwayda provinces.

Mobile medical teams supported by UNICEF have provided life-saving health and nutrition services to more than 4,000 children and women in the most affected areas.

Around 1,500 children, including 700 girls, have received basic psychosocial support, recreational activities, and mine risk awareness sessions to help restore a sense of safety and normalcy.
