ARK News… Several types of medicines have been cut off in Syria recently, some of which are monopolized by the Ministry of Health in the government of the Syrian regime, although they are available at exorbitant prices on the black market.

Patients who underwent kidney transplants in Tartous complain that their medicines, which are exclusively provided by the Ministry of Health and are not sold in pharmacies, are cut off.

One of the patients told a Syrian media channel that he had not received the medicine "mycophenolate mofetil" for a year, because the Ministry of Health no longer sent it to its affiliated directorates in the governorates.

The patient added that he is forced to order the drug from abroad at a price of 150,000 pounds per package (he needs two packages per month), while another patient is forced to buy “tacrolimus” at a price exceeding 200,000 pounds after it was discontinued two months ago.

One of the patients stated that although the medicine was cut off by the Ministry of Health, it is available on the black market at exorbitant prices, because the person who transplanted a kidney will buy the medicine at any price so that the kidney continues to function, as he put it.
