The PYD legalizes the Arab Belt
ARK News… A Kurdish citizen from Syrian Kurdistan revealed that the PYD began buying the lands of Arab settlers (al-Ghammer) and considering them as true owners of the Kurdish lands that the Syrian regime seized within the framework of the demographic change project for Syrian Kurdistan (the chauvinist Arab Belt).
In a special statement to ARK News website, a Kurdish citizen from Syrian Kurdistan, who preferred not to reveal his identity in order to preserve his and his family's safety, revealed that during the past two days, the PYD administration had purchased agricultural lands in a village located between Qamishlo and Tirbaspiye, with an area of 6 hectares of Arab settlers (Arab l-Ghammer) ).
The Kurdish citizen confirmed that an official contract had been signed between the PYD administration and the Arab settlers, who were resettled in Syrian Kurdistan in the 1960s and that the Syrian regime granted it agricultural lands that belong to the real owner of Kurdish citizens.
The Kurdish citizen added: The amount agreed upon by the two parties is "200" thousand US dollars, equivalent to more than half a billion Syrian pounds at the present time.
On this issue, a Kurdish jurist said: With this work, the PYD administration is working to legitimize the Arab Belt that the Syrian regime imposed on Syrian Kurdistan, because ownership of these real lands belongs to the Kurds, and the immersed Arabs are nothing but outsiders in Syrian Kurdistan.
The Kurdish lawyer added: Legally, the buying and selling process between the PYD administration and the settler Arabs (the Ghammer Arabs) is considered illegal and disposed of in the ownership of others, and even in the social contract, which is considered an internal constitution for the PYD administration, there is a clause prohibiting the purchase of the lands of Arab settlers (al-Ghammer).
The lawyer added, saying: With this process, the PYD administration considers the immigrant Arabs as one of the original inhabitants of Syrian Kurdistan, and proves to the world that there is no such thing as the “Arab Belt” and the Syrian regime has never worked to melt nationalism and the Kurdish people and has not practiced any violation against it.
The Arab Belt is one of the most dangerous racist projects presented by the chauvinist Muhammad Talab Hilal, head of the Political Security Division on the al-Jazira at the time and a member of the Baath Party's regional leadership later, which was approved by the Baath Regional Conference in September 1966 and instructed to take exceptional measures in preparation for the implementation of this notorious project.
On June 24, 1974, the regional leadership of the Baath Party issued the order to implement the project on the land, so it built 40 settlements in the strip adjacent to the border with Turkey from Ein Dewar in the far east to the west of the city of Seri Kaniye in the Hasaka governorate, and the lands were acquired through restraining measures, which belong to the Kurds within this strip with a length of about 275 km and a width of 10-15 km, thousands of families from Arab tribes from the regions of Raqqa and the countryside of Aleppo and their homeland were brought into these settlements, thus depriving tens of thousands of the Kurdish people in this region from benefiting from the land of their fathers and grandfathers.
