UN: Nearly 200,000 Displaced from Suwayda Due to Armed Clashes
ARK News.. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) revealed that nearly 200,000 people have been displaced from Suwayda following the recent armed clashes.
According to OCHA, the fighting in Suwayda Province since July 13, 2025, has complicated the delivery of humanitarian assistance and forced over 190,000 people to flee their homes.
The UN office stated in its report that these displacements affected Suwayda, Daraa, and Damascus governorates, with only around 120 people returning to their areas so far.
The clashes also caused the temporary closure of the “Busra al-Sham” humanitarian corridor, the only route to Suwayda, which was reopened on August 4, 2025.
Meanwhile, the main Damascus–Suwayda highway remains closed since July 12, 2025.
