ARK News.. Members of the US Congress sent a letter to Secretary of State "Mike Pompeo" asking him to impose economic sanctions on both the Assad regime and Russia, against the background of the attacks they are waging on Idlib Governorate, northwestern Syria.

The website of the Committee on Foreign Relations in the US House of Representatives, on Thursday, released a statement about the letter sent by Chairman of the Committee "Elliot Engel" and its member "Michael McCall" to Minister Pompeo, according to Anatolia.

The letter stated that the raids launched by Russia, Bashar al-Assad regime, Iran and Hezbollah, in Idlib, have killed 1730 civilians since last April and until now, demanding the minister to impose economic sanctions and diplomatic pressure on Russia and the Syrian regime.
The letter added that “Russia has been documented repeatedly bombing hospitals in violation of international standards, and attacking health workers in Syria over the years.. Therefore, we ask that you shed light on these abhorrent acts in international forums and give priority to holding Russia responsible for the war crimes it committed”.

The attacks of the regime forces and Russia have resulted in the deaths of more than 1,800 civilians, and the displacement of more than one million and 300,000 others to relatively calm areas or near the Turkish border, since September 17, 2018.
