Syria's response: The remnants of the regime and Russia's bombing are the greatest concern for civilians in northwestern Syria
ARK News… The Syria Response Coordination Team confirmed the documentation of the killing and wounding of dozens of civilians as a result of war remnants in the northwestern regions of Syria, calling on the competent authorities to remove them.
The team said in a statement, on Monday, published on its Facebook page, “The remnants left by the regime and Russia’s bombing of areas in northwestern Syria still represent the greatest concern among civilians in the region.”
The team added: "This comes with the onset of winter and people beginning to search for primitive heating methods on agricultural lands and the lack of effective action by humanitarian organizations to begin winter response operations in the region."
The statement stated that since the beginning of this year, "the explosion of 22 types of unexploded war ordnance has been documented as a result of the bombing, causing the death of six civilians, including two children, and the injury of 34 others, including 20 children and 4 women."
It was also documented that 11 mines exploded in the area, causing the death of 5 civilians, including three children, and wounding several other civilians.
Syria Response Coordinators urged humanitarian organizations working in the region to "begin supporting heating materials to the displaced in camps and residential areas to avoid more fatal accidents, especially since most of the displaced did not receive heating materials this year."
It called on all specialized parties in removing war remnants to expand the scope of field research in all regions, specifically around the camps and agricultural lands, especially since last year recorded the killing of 31 civilians and the injury of 53 others as a result of the explosion of more than 55 types of unexploded ordnance and mines in the region.
