Marco Rubio: Thomas Barrack Continues Role in Syria and Iraq Despite End of Syria Envoy Assignment
ARK News... U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the conclusion of Thomas Barrack’s mission as the United States special envoy to Syria, noting that he will continue to play a leading role within President Donald Trump’s administration on matters relating to both Syria and Iraq.
In a post on the platform X on Saturday, May 30, Rubio praised the role Barrack played during his tenure as U.S. special envoy to Syria.
He stated that Barrack had played an important role in supporting U.S. policy toward Syria and strengthening engagement with various stakeholders involved in the country.
Rubio explained that Barrack’s designation as special envoy to Syria will end with the expiration of his current assignment. However, he will continue to serve in a key capacity within the Trump administration regarding both Syria and Iraq.
The statement added that Barrack will remain involved in the affairs of the two countries, drawing on his extensive experience, relationships, and understanding of the “America First” agenda, stressing that these qualifications will help deliver further results that advance U.S. interests.
