ARK News... The page of the United States Embassy in Damascus, on Friday, March 3, 2023, said that the Syrian regime's arrest of Dr. "Rania Al-Abbasi, her husband, and her children" in 2013 symbolizes many cases of "unlawful" detention in Syria and around the world.
The embassy indicated that Dr. Rania Al-Abbasi is one of the brave individuals included in the "Unlawfully" campaign aimed at raising international awareness of the plight of all political detainees and securing their release, calling on the Syrian regime to immediately release all political detainees, and drop the charges against them for political motives.
The US State Department chose the case of Dr. Rania Al-Abbasi and her six children as part of the "Without Right" campaign carried out by the Office of Democracy and Human Rights at the US State Department to highlight the most prominent cases of enforced disappearance in the world.
Doctor Rania Al-Abbasi, the Syrian and Arab chess champion, was arrested by the Syrian regime forces on Monday, March 11, 2013, from the Dummar neighborhood in Damascus, along with her six children (Dima / born in 1999, Intisar / born in 2001, Najah / born in 2003, Alaa / born in 2005, Ahmed, born in 2007, Layan, born in 2011, an infant when she was arrested), and her friend Majdoleen Al-Qadi.
