The British maritime authority has stated that U.S. forces are continuing to enforce their naval blockade of Iran “strictly,” despite U.S. President Donald Trump announcing that the blockade would be lifted.

In a statement, the British maritime authority said that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains “critical” and urged vessels to avoid sailing through the area whenever possible.

The statement also advised ship captains operating near the Strait of Hormuz to clearly demonstrate that they have no intention of heading to Iranian ports, stressing that vessels failing to comply with instructions issued by the U.S. Navy in the strait could face significant risks.

Meanwhile, Mohsen Ridhai, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of the U.S. Navy, arguing that “Trump is betraying diplomacy for the third time by maintaining the blockade and putting forward excessive demands.”

The remarks come amid continued tensions between the United States and Iran over security and navigation in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime corridor for global energy shipments.
