Saman Barzanji: No Cases of Hemorrhagic Fever Recorded in the Kurdistan Region
ARK News.. Saman Barzanji, Minister of Health in the Kurdistan Regional Government, confirmed that no cases of hemorrhagic fever have been recorded in the provinces of the Kurdistan Region.
Speaking during a press conference, Barzanji said that no confirmed cases of hemorrhagic fever had been detected within the borders of the Kurdistan Region so far, except for one imported case from other Iraqi provinces that entered Sulaymaniyah and later made a full recovery after receiving the necessary medical treatment.
The minister warned: “As we are currently in the season of activity and spread of this virus, we expect positive cases to be recorded, and therefore our health teams have intensified monitoring tours and field investigations.”
Barzanji also issued the following preventive guidelines for citizens ahead of Eid al-Adha:
Avoid slaughtering livestock and sacrificial animals inside homes or in random and illegal locations.
Fully comply with slaughtering procedures at licensed government slaughterhouses supervised by veterinary committees.
Follow personal protective measures and wear masks and gloves when handling meat and livestock.
Be aware that this disease carries very high mortality rates if diagnosis and treatment are delayed.
