Sep 28 2022

ARK News... the Kurdish National Council in Syria, on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, condemned the decision of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) authorities to close private schools and institutes, and called on all components of the region, political parties, civil and human rights organizations, to actively participate in the sit-in called by a group of Civil society organizations on Tuesday in front of the United Nations building in the city of Qamishlo in order to cancel this unjust decision against students and society. ARK has received a copy of the statement that reads:

The Kurdish National Council in Syria condemns in the strongest terms the decision of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) authorities to close private institutes and schools, which threatens the educational future of thousands of students from the region.

This measure is contrary to the most basic human rights in freedom of learning and respect for the will of students and their families to teach their children recognized educational curricula that guarantee their educational and professional future. This decision will lead to the emptying of the region and the displacement of the rest of our people in Syrian Kurdistan.

The Kurdish National Council declares its full solidarity with the students and their families, standing by them and working by all peaceful means to ensure the future of our sons and daughters.

From this principle, we call on all components of the region, political parties, and civil and human rights organizations, to actively participate in the sit-in called by a group of civil society organizations on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, in front of the United Nations building in Qamishlo in order to cancel this unjust decision against students and society.
