Statement of the Journalists Union of Syria Kurdistan on the arrest of Omar Kalo
ARK News: Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate in Syria condemned the arrest of journalist Omar Kalo by the Syrian regime and called for his immediate release.
In a statement, the Council of the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate said that Omar Kalo went to Aleppo on August 25 to renew his family's passport, but was arrested by a military intelligence detachment before his arrival in Aleppo and allowed his wife and children to return to his native Kobany city.
From then until now, colleague Omar Kalo remains in arbitrary detention without knowing the proper reasons for his arrest as being detained by a security body that does not recognize the legal facts in all its actions and practices.
The Council said in its statement: "We in the Council of the Journalists Syndicate of Kurdistan - Syria we see that the Syrian regime has committed terrible violations against the press and journalists for more than four decades, and increased its fight against the press and every vote contrary to him especially after 2011 and the outbreak of the Syrian crisis between the regime and the people.
Everyone knows that the regime and many of the armed factions in Syria are looking at the enemy's eyes to the journalist, who has no self-defense elements and is defenseless of every weapon. "
At the end of his statement, the union council called upon the authorities of the Syrian regime not to inflict any harm on Kalu and immediately release him with serious concerns about his life if the news of his transfer to the Palestine Intelligence Branch in Damascus is confirmed.
