After recording two deaths.. Fears that Al-Hawl camp will turn into a hotbed for the spread of "cholera"
ARK News.. Local sources revealed that two deaths from "cholera" were recorded in Al-Hawl camp, which is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in eastern countryside of Hasaka city.
A news source close to the Syrian regime said that the two deaths were recorded, on October 18 and 19, 2024, and they are related to a man and a woman who did not receive adequate treatment to combat the disease.
The source indicated that there are between 30 and 50 cases of cholera in the camp, with increasing fears of the disease spreading more widely.
The camp suffers from a shortage of drinking water, a situation that has been ongoing for more than a year, after the "SDF" reduced the number of tankers allowed to enter the camp by half.
The exposed sewage channels increase the seriousness of the health situation, which is one of the most prominent sources of pollution inside the camp, which contributes to the exacerbation of the spread of diseases.
Current estimates predict that Al-Hawl camp will turn into a cholera epidemic hotspot, especially with the lack of adequate medical care and the lack of preventive awareness efforts by working organizations inside the camp.
