Funeral and Condolence Ceremonies Begin for Abdul Wahid Ibrahim Sheikh Abdul Salam Barzani

The first day of condolence ceremonies for the late Abdul Wahid Ibrahim Sheikh Abdul Salam Barzani began in the Barzan area on Sunday morning, September 6, 2026.

The ceremony was attended by senior political and official figures, led by Kurdistan Democratic Party President Masoud Barzani, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, and Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.

Dozens of senior government and party officials, along with a large number of political and social figures and prominent local dignitaries, attended the ceremony to offer their condolences and sympathies to the family and relatives of the deceased.

In a condolence message issued on Friday, September 4, President Masoud Barzani mourned the death of Abdul Wahid Ibrahim Sheikh Abdul Salam Barzani, describing him as the eldest member of the Barzani family. He noted that the deceased was the grandson of the prominent national and religious figure Sheikh Abdul Salam Barzani and described him as a devout man known for good deeds and as a respected and prominent member of the Barzani family.

The Barzani Headquarters had previously announced that the funeral and burial ceremony, along with the first day of the condolence gathering, would be held in Barzan on Sunday, September 6. The second and third days of the condolence ceremonies will take place on Monday and Tuesday, September 7 and 8, in Pirmam, Erbil.
