Oct 21 2026

ARK News.. Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, that it had intercepted five drones launched toward the kingdom, including drones in the Medina region.

Saudi Defense Ministry spokesperson Turki al-Maliki said in a post on X that four drones launched toward the kingdom had been intercepted and destroyed. He said the interceptions took place in the Eastern Province and the Medina region.

Al-Maliki later announced that another drone had been intercepted in the Eastern Province, without identifying the party responsible for launching the drones.

On Tuesday, al-Maliki confirmed that a ballistic missile launched by Yemen’s Houthi group toward the Saudi capital, Riyadh, had been intercepted and destroyed.

The latest developments come amid rising security tensions in the region, with concerns about a possible expansion of hostilities and their implications for the kingdom’s security, regional stability, and international maritime routes.

The Houthis, who are backed by Iran, have intensified their attacks on Saudi Arabia this month, including strikes targeting Riyadh airport.
