Syria May Deploy Forces to Help Saudi Arabia Fight Houthis
ARK News.. A news agency reported that Syria may deploy forces to assist Saudi Arabia in its fight against the Houthis in Yemen.
According to Reuters, a U.S. official and an official from Syria’s Ministry of Defense said Syria could deploy forces to support Saudi Arabia in fighting the Houthis in Yemen.
The possibility of Syrian forces taking part in the fighting, which is one of the repercussions of the U.S. -Iran conflict highlights how the renewed civil war in Yemen has contributed to growing instability in a region already affected by multiple conflicts. It also raises concerns that other regional countries could be drawn into difficult mountain warfare.
Saudi Arabia has sought support from allied countries, including Turkey and Pakistan, even if limited to purely logistical or defensive assistance. These efforts have become more urgent following Houthi strikes targeting infrastructure in the kingdom, including a deadly attack on one of its airports earlier this week.
