Iranian Oil Tanker Hit by Missile Strike on Kharg Island
ARK News.. An Iranian news agency reported that explosions were heard near Iran’s Kharg Island following a US attack.
Iran’s Fars News Agency reported today, Saturday, September 5, 2026, that an Iranian oil tanker on Kharg Island was hit by a US missile strike.
No further details have so far emerged regarding the nature of the attack or the extent of the damage. The United States has also not officially confirmed the incident.
On Friday, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that “the lifeline of Iran’s exports is being cut off,” adding that Iran could not replenish its oil reserves as crude continued to accumulate aboard ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.
Bessent also said that no Iranian oil shipments had crossed the Strait of Hormuz to China since the blockade was reimposed.
