Germany: Deportation for Those Without Residency Rights
ARK News.. The German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) has announced that limited residency status constitutes only a temporary suspension of deportation. It clarified that "good integration" will no longer be a condition for rejected asylum seekers to obtain residency rights in Germany.
According to BAMF, individuals who have not been granted the right to reside in Germany will be "definitively" deported to the countries they came from or returned to their countries of origin.
The agency explained that each asylum case is assessed individually, and that neither nationality nor country of origin directly determines whether protection is granted or an asylum application is rejected.
It further noted that if there is a proven danger in a rejected applicant’s country of origin, deportation may be postponed. However, anyone who is not granted residency will ultimately face deportation.
BAMF emphasized that learning the German language or securing employment will not serve as criteria for granting residency status. “Good integration has no bearing” on the decision to deport an asylum seeker, it added.
The office reiterated that neither identity nor nationality is the determining factor in asylum decisions. Rather, individual cases are considered based solely on personal circumstances and the reasons for fleeing.
