ARK News Documents Names of Nearly 10 Minors Abducted by Syrian Democratic Forces
ARK News.. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continue to pursue a policy of intimidation and exploitation of children in areas under their control, subjecting minors to forced military recruitment and robbing them of their childhood.
ARK News has documented the abduction of nearly 10 underage children by members of the Revolutionary Youth Movement a group affiliated with the SDF, from various towns and villages across Syrian Kurdistan.
Below are the names of the children reportedly abducted by SDF-linked groups:
Ibrahim Khalil Hamek (15 years old), from the village of Baghdik, east of Kobani in Syrian Kurdistan.
Ibrahim Mohammed Sino, born in 2008, from the village of Kharab Ashk near Kobani. He was abducted on March 4, 2024, while residing with his family in Raqqa.
Maryana Suleiman, born in 2012, abducted in early March 2025 from her home in the Qamishli countryside.
Sila Suleiman, born in 2012, abducted in early March 2025 from her home in the Qamishli countryside.
Roshin Mustafa Mahmoud Ibrahim, abducted just two days before her wedding in March 2025 from the village of Koberlek near the city of Gire Spi.
Khunav Abdullah Sheikho, born in 2009, abducted on April 2, 2025, while at school in the Nasra neighborhood of Hasaka, reportedly in coordination with the school’s field supervisor.
Rehab Youssef Sheikho, 13 years old and the only child in her family, from the city of Kobani, abducted in March 2025.
Malak Kawa Abdo, born in 2010, abducted on Monday, March 24, 2025, on her way home from school in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo.
A child from the Hamo family, aged 13, from the village of Arna near Kobani, abducted on April 2, 2025.
Despite SDF Commander Mazloum Abdi signing an action plan with Virginia Gamba, the UN Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, pledging to end and prevent the recruitment and use of minors under the age of 18, reports of child enlistment and deployment in armed conflict continue to emerge.
