Mojtaba Khamenei Orders Highly Enriched Uranium to Remain Inside Iran
ARK News.. A news agency reported that Iran’s supreme leader has ordered that enriched uranium remain inside the country and not be transferred abroad.
According to Reuters, two senior Iranian sources said that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, issued directives prohibiting the transfer abroad of the country’s stockpile of uranium enriched to levels close to weapons-grade material.
One of the Iranian sources, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, told Reuters: “The Supreme Leader’s directives, as well as the consensus within the establishment, are that the enriched uranium stockpile must not leave the country.”
The two sources added that senior Iranian officials believe transferring such materials abroad would make the country more vulnerable to future American and Israeli attacks. The supreme leader holds the final say on major state matters.
Israeli officials also told Reuters that U.S. President Donald Trump had assured Israel that Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, necessary for producing a nuclear weapon, would be removed from Iran and that any peace agreement must include a clause to that effect.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he would not consider the war over unless the enriched uranium is removed from Iran, Tehran’s support for allied groups in the region is ended, and Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities are dismantled.
