Israeli Sources Doubt America’s Ability to Topple the Iranian Regime

Israeli security sources have cast doubt on the possibility of overthrowing the Islamic Republic’s regime if the United States resumes military operations against Iran, following remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump suggesting he may end the truce due to the failure to reach a comprehensive peace agreement between Washington and Tehran.

According to the Israeli newspaper “Haaretz,” citing Israeli security sources, any renewed American strikes on Iran would “almost certainly” lead to Israel joining the fighting.

Meanwhile, sources within the Israeli military reportedly expressed surprise at Trump’s statements that he had been only hours away from launching an attack on Iran, noting that they had expected direct and extensive coordination with Israel on such a move.

Trump had announced on Monday that he postponed an attack on Iran that was scheduled to begin on Tuesday, following requests from Gulf states, while the Pentagon was instructed to remain on high alert in case no agreement is reached with Tehran.

In press remarks, Trump said that “the Emir of Qatar, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, and the President of the UAE asked him to hold off on the planned military attack against Iran.”
