Two Kurdish Students Win First and Second Place in International Mental Math Competition
ARK News.. Two students from the Kurdistan Region achieved an unprecedented feat by securing the first and second places in a global mental math competition, showcasing their exceptional talent in this field.
Soleimani Governor Haval Abu Bakr announced on Sunday, February 16, 2025, that "four Kurdish children participated in the world's largest international mental math competition, which was held in Baghdad on February 15, 2025."
Abu Bakr stated that "the Kurdish children participated under the flag of Kurdistan in a competition that featured over 450 participants from 12 countries, including Russia, Turkey, Iran, Ukraine, Germany, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, France, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Egypt, and the Czech Republic."
He confirmed that the two students, Lawi Hariz, who ranked first in Soleimani and trained at the Soleimani Institute, and Abdullah Peshawa, who ranked first in Erbil and trained at the Kurdistan Future School, successfully represented the Kurdistan Region in the international mental math competition.
Abu Bakr added, "Lawi Hariz, from Sulaimani, secured the first place, while Abdullah Peshawa, from Erbil, claimed the second place in the global mental math championship."
