
Armenia: “The first Kurdish radio broadcast from Yerevan is evidence of the historical relationship between the Kurdish and Armenian people”

President Masoud Barzani received, on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, in Salahuddin Artak Abitounian, Deputy Armenian Foreign Minister and his accompanying delegation, which included the Armenian Ambassador to Baghdad Harjia Buladian, the Armenian Consul to Erbil, Arshak Manukyan, and a number of diplomats of the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for the struggle and sacrifices of President Barzani and his historic defense for the freedoms and rights of the people of Kurdistan. He also thanked his sovereignty, the institutions of the region, and the people of Kurdistan to maintain the state of coexistence and religious tolerance in the region and to protect the rights of the Armenian component in Kurdistan. He affirmed his country's desire to strengthen and expand diplomatic and commercial relations with the Kurdistan Region.
During the same meeting, President Barzani praised the historical relationship between the peoples of Kurdistan and Armenia, noting that the broadcast of the first Kurdish radio station from the Armenian capital Yerevan is evidence of the historical and cultural relationship between the two peoples. He also expressed his happiness at the expansion of relations between the Kurdistan Region and Armenia, stressing that the Kurdistan Region will remain a model for religious and national coexistence and that it strongly supports the rights of components in the Kurdistan Region.
