Statement by the Presidency of the KNC on Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani’s Tweet

ARK News.. The Presidency of the Kurdish National Council (KNC) in Syria issued a statement today, Wednesday, January 22, 2025, in response to a tweet by Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, in which he said, "The Kurds in Syria add beauty and brilliance to the diversity of the Syrian people."

Below is the text of the statement:

Mr. Asaad al-Shaibani, Syrian Foreign Minister, wrote on his personal account on X a post in Kurdish, stating:

"The Kurds in Syria add beauty and brilliance to the diversity of the Syrian people. The Kurdish community in Syria has suffered injustices under the Assad regime. Together, we will build a country where everyone feels equality and justice."

We welcome this gesture, which clearly reflects a vision of Syria as a state of multiple ethnicities and religions. We affirm that addressing the injustices faced by the Kurdish people and ensuring their constitutional rights are cornerstone steps in building a democratic, pluralistic, stable, and prosperous Syria.

Respecting the rights of all components of Syrian society and ensuring their fair participation in shaping the country’s future is the best path to strengthening national unity and achieving stability in Syria.
