Kurdish National Council Condemns Terrorist Bombings Targeting Damascus

Jul 08 2026

ARK News.. The General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council (KNC) in Syria has strongly condemned the terrorist bombings that targeted the Syrian capital, Damascus, coinciding with the visit of the French president to Syria. The Council stressed that the most effective response to such crimes is greater unity and cooperation, along with ensuring genuine participation for all Syrians, from every component of society, in shaping the country's future and ensuring the success of the transitional period.

The statement reads as follows:

The Kurdish National Council strongly condemns the terrorist bombings that struck the city of Damascus on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, coinciding with the visit of the French president to Syria. These criminal attacks represent a blatant attempt to spread fear and anxiety among citizens and to convey the false impression that security and stability are absent at a time when Syrians aspire to turn the page on the past and move toward a better future.

These terrorist acts claimed the lives of a number of civilians and left many others wounded, once again demonstrating that the forces of terrorism and criminality continue to seek to obstruct the Syrian people's efforts to build their new state and undermine prospects for stability and peace.

We affirm that the best response to these crimes lies in greater solidarity and cooperation, while providing all Syrians, regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds, with a genuine opportunity to participate in shaping the country's future, ensuring the success of the transitional phase, and advancing the construction of a new, democratic, pluralistic Syria founded on citizenship, justice, and the rule of law. We also call for accelerating the fulfillment of the Syrian people's aspirations for rights, freedom, dignity, and a decent life.

We further call on the international community to stand alongside the Syrian people in confronting terrorism by providing all necessary forms of support to combat it and by taking serious action to eliminate its ideological, financial, and logistical sources, thereby helping to consolidate security and stability and enabling Syrians to build their future free from violence and extremism.

Mercy to the martyrs, and a speedy recovery to the injured.
