ARK News.. According to a new balance, at least 33 people died in the two avalanches in eastern Turkey, some reports also mention forty. Also some rescue workers and civilians who were looking for victims of the first avalanche did not survive the second avalanche. According to Governor Mehmet Emin Bilmez, dozens of people were saved, but it is impossible to say how many people are still buried in snow, but according to reports, there are at least fifty.
At least five people died on Tuesday in the first avalanche in Bahçesaray of the Kurdish city province of Van. Two people are still missing. The second avalanche – which struck during the rescue work – killed at least eight gendarmes, three security people, a firefighter and nine civilians.
According to the governor, it is impossible to say how many people are still under the snow. But according to local media, more than fifty rescue workers and members of the military police are covered with snow.
Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu says that more than 30 people have been saved. The Ministry of Defense said it would send a rescue team of 75 people to help. Dozens of volunteers defied the snow and the gusts of wind to excavate and carry away victims.
