Tunisia... The opposition is demonstrating against the president and Saeed: There is no place for traitors

ARK News… Hours before these demonstrations, President Kais Saied wandered Habib Bourqiba Street and said whoever accuses the country of police and dictatorship is the one who wants to destroy it.

The Tunisian Ministry of Interior, on Saturday, said, in two brief statements, that security dealings with the protests in the capital took place under normal conditions.

Saturday, on the 12th anniversary of the fall of the late President Zane El Abidin Bin Ali's regime, opposition forces took to the streets in Tunisia to express their rejection of President Kais Saied's project and demand early presidential elections.

Hours before these demonstrations, President Kais Saied wandered, on Friday evening, on Habib Bourqiba Street, and said that "there is no place for traitors and agents in the country," adding that "those who accuse the country of police and dictatorship are the ones who want to destroy it."

Throughout this week, the al-Nahda Movement, which is leading these demonstrations, called on Tunisians to go down to participate massively in this protest, denouncing the measures taken by President Saied since July 25, 2021, and the deteriorating economic conditions, as well as to demand that he step down from power and organize early presidential elections.

Riots
Hours before the start of the protest marches, the security forces deployed in all the main streets in the center of the capital to secure these demonstrations. The Ministry of the Interior called on the protesting parties to respect the specific routes and times and to take responsibility for framing their followers to prevent bickering, riots, and the exchange of violence between them.

Through these sporadic protest movements, opponents of President Kais Saied, who do not recognize the constitution that he approved in a referendum on July 25, or the results of the parliamentary elections that took place last month, are trying to return to power and involve them in the political process and the road map for the next stage.

On the other hand, Saied is moving forward with the implementation of the road map that he set, despite the criticism leveled at him about the low turnout during the first round of the parliamentary elections and the calls for their postponement this January.

A few days ago, Saeed accused his opponents of "standing behind the crises" in the country, and of trying to strike state institutions. These conditions cannot continue, and they will not remain unpunished within the framework of the law."
