ARK News.. With the presence of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Vice President Masrour Barzani, the KDP officially launched its election campaign today (Saturday) in Erbil, supporting the List 275, with participation from the party’s organizational offices in Baghdad and Kirkuk.
In his speech, Barzani warmly greeted “the proud people of Kirkuk — the heart of Kurdistan,” saying:
“I thank you for your perseverance, your patience, and your faith. Despite all the injustices you have faced, your blood remains yellow and your hearts still beat for Kurdistan.”
He affirmed that KDP candidates would go to Baghdad not to pursue personal interests, but to defend the rights of all Iraqis and the Kurdistan Region.
“What is happening today in Kirkuk and other disputed areas against all communities is a grave injustice — and we will no longer accept it,” Barzani said.
Referring to the legacy of Kurdish leadership, he added:
“The immortal Barzani and Barzani the father sacrificed revolutions for Kirkuk — and this time, we are ready to sacrifice our blood and our souls for it.”
Addressing the people of Kirkuk directly, Barzani said:
“The people of Kirkuk must know the truth — it was the supporters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party who have sacrificed themselves throughout history. Let them serve you once again.”
He voiced his full support for KDP Vice President Nechirvan Barzani, saying:
“We can absolutely secure one million votes for him.”
Barzani stressed that true success does not come from blocking progress:
“Preventing projects or government formation is not an achievement. The real pride lies in being loyal to your people and ready to sacrifice for them.”
He urged Kirkuk’s citizens to give their votes and trust to the KDP, promising development and prosperity:
“It is unacceptable that a city like Kirkuk — which has given so many martyrs and floats on a sea of oil — still lacks 24-hour electricity and basic services.”
Barzani vowed that under KDP leadership, Kirkuk would become “a global example of coexistence,” noting that:
“You have tried other parties — instead of serving you, they exploited you for their own gain. Let the KDP serve you and dedicate itself to your well being.”
He emphasized the importance of uniting all disputed areas under Kurdistan’s administration:
“Makhmour, Zummar, Sinjar, and Khanaqin must return to the national fold — no part of this land should remain occupied.”
Barzani concluded by affirming the inclusive mission of his party:
“The Kurdistan Democratic Party does not only defend Kurds — it also stands for Arabs, Turkmen, and all other components. Governance must be corrected from Baghdad to ensure equal rights for every Iraqi community.”
He lamented the dire living conditions across Iraq:
“Unfortunately, the economic situation in many Iraqi cities is dire. Without proper financial management and fair distribution of natural resources, services cannot be delivered justly.”
