Kherson authorities: Ukrainian forces are mobilizing for an imminent attack

Nov 07 2022

ARK News… While the daily evacuation of residents and civilians from the Ukrainian city of Kherson, which Russia annexed to its territory last September, the regional authorities loyal to Moscow announced that Ukraine has mobilized tanks and armored vehicles in preparation for an imminent attack.

On the other hand, the Ukrainian army denied these accusations, pointing out that the Russian forces are forcibly evacuating residents from Kherson, according to what an Al-Arabiya correspondent reported on Sunday.

Trap!
These statements came, after pictures circulated a few days ago on the internet, showed the main administrative building in Kherson, without the Russian flag raised above it, amid indications about Russia's willingness to give up its military foothold on the western bank of the Dnieper River, including Kherson, the only major city that controlled which has been since the start of the military operation last February.

However, Kyiv expressed its concern, considering that such signals may be a Russian deception to lure Ukrainian forces into an ambush.

Bad situation
It is noteworthy that Russian General Sergei Surovkin, who was assigned to manage military operations in Ukraine last month (October 2022), had previously admitted that the situation was very bad in southern Ukraine, weeks after the counter-offensive launched by Ukrainian forces since last September, with the aim of regaining control of many from towns and cities to the south and east.

Painful slap
Kherson is among the four regions that the Kremlin announced in late September (2022) to annex to Russia, and therefore the Ukrainians' control over them again would constitute a painful blow to the Russian army and its prestige.

This region is also of special importance, as it includes the Kakhovka power plant dam and the Antonovsky bridge that connects the city to the southern bank of the Dnieper River and the rest of the Kherson region.

Also, Kherson's geographical location is of particular importance, as the city is located on the borders of the Dnepropetrovsk and Nikolayev regions, and it has a land border with Crimea in the south while overlooking the Black Sea in the southwest, and the Sea of Azov in the southeast.
