ARK News… On the sixteenth of March is the thirty-fourth anniversary of the martyrdom massacre of Halabja in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, which was bombed with chemical weapons by the former regime in Iraq on March 16, 1988,

This horrific crime still constitutes a deep wound in the conscience and history of the Kurdish people and reflects the extent of the injustice and persecution that the Kurds have been subjected to at the hands of oppressive dictatorial regimes.

The Kurdish National Council in Syria, while condemning this crime and all crimes committed against peoples as a result of chemical weapons, calls for this tragedy to be a motive and catalyst to exert more efforts to strengthen and develop the Kurdistan Region in all fields, protect the gains made thanks to the blood of the martyrs, and work to unite the ranks the Kurds are facing challenges and difficulties in this delicate circumstance that Syria and the world are going through.

At a time when we renew the call for the international community to consider the sixteenth of March as the international day to combat chemical weapons and prevent their use, it calls on the Kurdish people in all their places to stand for five minutes of mourning for the martyrs of Halabja, starting at eleven o'clock in the morning of the sixteen of March in front of homes, shops and streets.

Glory and eternity to the martyrs of the Halabja massacre and the martyrs of freedom in Syria and the world.

Shame and disgrace for the murderers and criminals, and together to hold accountable the users of chemical weapons, which are internationally prohibited.
